Anime reviewing criteria

Anime reviews will be based on 5 things:

First impression- My opinion of the show after watching the first 2 or 3 episodes.

Animation-How the characters look, how the transitions and actions look, and the overall feel i get from watching the show.

Music-How well the music fits, whether or not the opening/closing songs fit with their videos and also how they fit in with the actual content of the series.


Content-Whether it be story line or jokes, the content is of course one of the most important features of the show. The type of content may differ from genre to genre, but generally, there is at least one recurring part of the show that will help me decide how to review it. In most shows, this section may be called story line, but I watch a lot of slice-of-life style comedy anime which is why this section is formally called 'content' rather than 'story'.

Final Impression- This section is just my opinion on the show after I have finished the last episode all the way to the last frame (the last frame bit is important). Most shows end before the ending song, however, there are quite a few shows that have possible season 2 teasers and also plot conclusions during or even after the credits (Angel Beats, Shingeki no Kyojin, etc...). Basically, this is my overall opinion on how everything fit together in the end.

At the end of an anime review, I will have my personal content rating and 'recommendation status'. Possible statuses are:
-Don't watch ever: This will only happen if the show was a complete disaster so don't look for too many of these.
-Only appeals to a limited audience: As it says, only certain people will find the series interesting (Based on content).
-Average: Good, all-around series, most people would enjoy.

-Recommend: I liked the series quite a bit, and It would be a good watch for anime fans.

-Highly Recommend: A very good series that most anime fans would enjoy.

-Must watch series: Amazing series that would even appeal to non-anime fans. Quite a few of these would be both subbed and dubbed. Mass-appeal type anime series that are very entertaining and have very good soundtracks and content.
